In the semi-main spot of Forbidden Door 2, Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay renewed their rivalry from Wrestle Kingdom 17. In what was an instant classic that went nearly 40 minutes, it was Ospreay who came out victorious to regain the IWGP US Championship at Forbidden Door 2 in front of a hostile crowd in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Omega and Ospreay gave the crowd everything and more in what was to most the main event of the night. While Bryan Danielson and Kazuchika Okada went on last in the main event slot, those in attendance knew they had witnessed the match of the night between these two.

Many wondered how Omega and Ospreay were going to follow up their Wrestle Kingdom 17 bout that left Ospreay bloodied inside the Toyko Dome with Omega coming out victorious in that one. Ospreay was motivated by revenge and the fact he wanted to defeat Omega in Canada.
Entering the contest Ospreay loathed the fact he had to wrestle in Canada. In one of his lead-up promos, Ospreay ran down all the Canadian wrestlers including the legendary Bret the Hitman Hart. And the minute his music hit, the crowd inside Scotiabank Arena let him have it. And just like CM Punk, Ospreay ate it up.
The crowd heavily booed Ospreay who made his way out with Don Callis and two security guards. Ospreay played the heel role perfectly as Bret Hart did when he was a heel in America.
“Kenny Omega! Remember me. I’m back for revenge!”

At one point Ospreay was yelling at kids and then grabbed the Canadian Flag and put it between his legs and up his alla Shawn Michaels. However, Omega got some revenge using the Canadian Flag on Ospreay and the crowd went nuts.

He knew exactly what he was doing to get the heat he needed in the match with Omega. Again Omega coming home and wrestling in front of his home country of Canada. Though Omega is from Winnipeg, the Toronto crowd cheered him like he was one of their own. The minute the best bout machine entered the arena, the place went nuts.
The best bout machine.

As previously mentioned, Ospreay and Omega’s first encounter was epic. It was up for a match of the year. However, this one topped the Wrestle Kingdom match by a mile. These two pulled out all the stops for the Toronto crowd. No stone was left unturned for these two.
It was a bloody and physical affair and this time Jon Moxley was not involved. Ospreay made sure Omega was going to bleed. He rammed Omega’s head into the announce table multiple times. Then he sent Omega through the plastic part of the announcement table. And Will Ospreay just loved giving it to the Canadian when he did that.
Then it was Omega’s turn to bloody Ospreay. The match goes to the outside where Omega slammed Ospreay’s head into the steel steps. He also hit a V-Trigger on Ospreay into the barricade. Considering that the Wrestle Kingdom match took years off Ospreay’s career, the fact he took a DDT on the stairs was truly amazing.
With things back in the ring Callis made his way back to the ring after being kicked. Ospreay and Omega went through several sequences of counters and suplexes. Including multiple V-Triggers. There was a point where Ospreay hit a combination of moves including his finisher where Omega kicked out.
Of course, Callis was going to get involved as he did in Omega’s match against Moxley. Callis handed Ospreay the screwdriver and as Omega went for the One-Winged Angel, he hit him with it. Ospreay also tried to beat Omega with his own finisher, but of course, Omega kicked out of it.
The finish came when Ospreay hit Omega with a Tiger Drive 91, which Omega was able to kick out of it. He followed that up by hitting Hidden Blade into Storm Breaker for the 1, 2, and 3 to become the new champion.

As he collected the title and his arm raised in the air, Will Ospreay again took one more shot at the Canadian fans flipping them off.
This is surely not the last match between these two as Ospreay indicated post-show.
