The minute “Cult of Personality” in the United Center in Chicago, you knew the fan reaction was electric for the returning CM Punk.

For the second time, CM Punk sold out the United Center. This time for the debut episode of AEW Collision and he had a lot to get off his chest. Punk took the mic and the fans were ready for what he had to say.
Punk was not holding back his feelings about what happened in the past. He did not touch on “Brawl Out,” but said he was not going to be sorry for his past and was tired of being nice. This was the old CM Punk. The CM Punk of WWE, where he was the Voice of the Voiceless. He got back to his roots and his heel look was back. This time shaved hair and was ready to unload on those in the AEW locker room.
Punk documented his checked past. He stated it does not matter if you love him or hate him, you will watch him and listen to what he has to say. Ever since he entered AEW, Punk has been a polarizing figure. And even more so now thanks to the fight with the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega at All Out this past September. There are those within the company that do not want him there thus he is carrying AEW Collision. But there are others who like him and respect him for who he is.

AEW Full Gear 2023 Review and Roman Reigns Inflated Title Streak
by Full Press Coverage on November 22, 2023 at 1:00 pm
As Punk stated he speaks truth to power and the truth is painful. He took shots at the locker room especially Matt and Nick Jackson when he was called “One Bill Phil” by Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav because he is “the one, true genuine bill in a business full of counterfeit bucks.”
Closing out the promo, Punk said that there are some people who believe they are owed an apology, and sometimes, it’s better to be the bigger man in a situation. To that end, Punk did apologize…by saying that he was sorry that the “only people softer than you are the wrestlers you like.”

Punk then said that the last time people saw him, he was winning what was inside the bag he brought with him. Yes, that is right CM Punk brought the AEW World Title he never lost to Collision. While some might want him to retire, Punk says that until someone can fill the boots he brought him with like he can, he won’t be going anywhere.

Punk said he is still world champion until someone pins him for the title. Setting up a match down the line with MJF. Also says he is not going to retire or leave professional wrestling until he decides or someone in the back can force him to leave.
This was a great mic work by CM Punk. We always knew he was one of the best on the mic. He is definitely playing more of a heel role, but in Chicago, he is loved. Later that evening he teamed with FTR to take on Juice Robinson, Jay White, and Samoa Joe.
CM Punk looked good in the ring. FTR carried the match, but Punk did not look rusty. He is going to have some great matches and hopefully another stellar one with Joe down the road. CMFTR got the win, but the story of the night was Punk being back in AEW.
Whether you love him or hate him, he puts eyeballs on the product.
To quote CM Punk, “Tell Me When I am Telling Lies!”
