Will Ospreay Signs With All Elite Wrestling at Full Gear

Heading into Full Gear 2023, AEW President and CEO Tony Khan said there was going to be a big signing. Khan stated the company had come “to terms with one of the world’s best wrestlers” in the world.

AEW has agreed to terms with one of the world’s best wrestlers, a pro who is known + respected by virtually every @AEW fan! They’ll come to LA to sign their contract THIS SATURDAY 11/18 on ppv at #AEWFullGear!

There were only a few options that it could be. One of the options was Will Ospreay and the other was Mercedes Mone. And if he did not deliver one of those two, fans were going to roll their eyes once again at Tony Khan’s big announcement because he did not deliver.

However, Tony Khan delivered what the AEW fans wanted. He delivered WILL OSPREAY to All Elite Wrestling at Full Gear.

Ospreay is no stranger to AEW. He wrestled last year in AEW with Aussie Open against The Elite in the Trios Championship Tournament. In addition, Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay fought two epic matches in 2023 — one at WrestleKingdom and the other at Forbidden Door 2 where they stole the show. He was also at All-In and WrestleDream (not to mention he is part of the Don Callis Family). So, the AEW fans know who he is and just listen to that pop and see his reaction.

Will Ospreay told the crowd that he would fulfill his NJPW commitments, and had the blessing of NJPW to sign with AEW even though his contract with NJPW was only up in February 2024. But Ospreay will be at WrestleKingdom defending the IWGP US and UK Titles, but there will be a new title created that night. Also, he can still wrestle there thanks to the Forbidden Door.

The advantage AEW had over WWE is that Will Ospreay resides in the UK and he can wrestle at Wembley Stadium next year. He told Tony Khan to line up his best, especially for Wembley Stadium because he is All Elite.

What a huge signing for AEW considering what happened with CM Punk months earlier.
