The main event of All Out was for the AEW International Championship as Orange Cassidy defended the title against Jon Moxley.
This whole week was about building the title up for this slot. In fact, this was the right main event. Anything else would have been a letdown. Orange Cassidy the man who won the All-Atlantic Title from PAC and kept it when it was renamed the International Title against Jeff Jarrett.

Shock Waves in Pro Wrestling: A McMahon No Longer Owns WWE

This is the same guy who was viewed as a comedy act. And his antics aren’t for everyone. During the pandemic, his act could not get over because there was no crowd, but once a crowd came back, this Cassidy guy got over. But he proved he can wrestle, too. Though he took his fair share of losses, he was in the main event of Double or Nothing with Kenny Omega and Pac in 2021.
His second main event comes against the MVP of AEW Jon Moxley. Moxley has won the AEW World Title three times, two of which, he stepped up because CM Punk was either suspended or hurt or both. On a night-in and night-out basis shows why he is one of the best wrestlers in the world.
The way the company built this match was so good too. Moxley and the Blackpool Combat Club are bullies. They have been running AEW beating up everyone. A parking lot brawl with the Best Friends wasn’t enough. A three-way tag match is not enough. Even Stadium Stampede was not enough. But the BCC target was Orange Cassidy the International Champion.
Cassidy had successfully defended the title 31 times. Finding a new way to hold on to the title each time. Not only was he making himself into a star, but he elevated a title that everyone thought was just another title. Instead, he made the International Title into the second most important singles title behind the AEW World Championship.
The point of watching Cassidy defend the title was to see if he was going to lose or how he was going to escape yet again. Cassidy’s body was beaten up. He suffered injuries to his neck, hand, and back. He was tired. However, he did not walk away from any challenge. From the 21-man battle royal at Double or Nothing to all his singles matches. Two good ones were against Swerve and Penta. The latter set up the match with Moxley.

Not to mention the promos both of these men cut. Cassidy to close out Dynamite where he let his heart and soul in that promo about the title and what it means to him. And then on Collision, Moxley cut an emotional promo about what he was going to do to Cassidy.
Hence the main event of All Out in Chicago in the United Center had to be for the International Title. It had a big fight feel as the wrestlers were shown coming out from the back. That is how you do it up right. Make it feel important because it was important.
The match itself did not disappoint. It was a typical Orange Cassidy match. However, Moxley was the aggressor from the start. Cassidy took everything from Moxley. And Cassidy even bled. Surprisingly, it was not Moxley.
Cassidy got his big comeback. Did the hands in the pockets, which made Moxley mad. Tried that at the beginning. That did not work out. But later in the match it did. Did his soft kicks which got harder and harder. Moxley responded with a King Kong Lariat. Cassidy bounced up, and Moxley hit a couple of more Lariats. But he was only getting a two-count.
To close the match, Moxley hit a death rider, got a two-count and could not believe he did not win. Cassidy rolled out. He could not even get a shoulder up. But Moxley’s face said it all how could this guy keep coming back for more? After Cassidy gave Moxley the double bird, one more death rider later and we had a new AEW International Champion.
After Moxley was spaghetti-legged and needed the BCC to help him out of the arena. Moxley continuously looked back at Cassidy and could not believe what it took to take the title from him. Cassidy got a stand ovation from the crowd and was thanked for what he had done to make that title meaningful.
Cassidy showed he could hang with the big dogs of the company. Now the International Title has meaning and it is not just another belt. Expect Moxley to carry on it legacy.
