Welcome to the wrestling roundup where we look at the biggest stories from the past week or weekend in wrestling. In the wrestling roundup, we not only will look at the news but rumours as well. Again, fans love speculating on rumours. And all the rumours will be cited from credible sources in the wrestling world. Remember with rumours, none of them have been confirmed. With that said let’s dive into this edition of the wrestling roundup looking at what happened between CM Punk and Jack Perry before AEW All In. In addition, we will look at the news surrounding Mercedes Mone and Tony Khan’s big announcements.
Wrestling Roundup: CM Punk/Jack Perry Incident
AEW News: CM Punk and Jack Perry Involved in Pre-Show Incident
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com, CM Punk and Jack Perry were involved in an incident prior to All In Beginning. AEW President/CEO Tony Khan confirmed that an “incident” took place backstage during the show but stated he was unable to address it any further at this time.
“I can’t comment on it at this time beyond what I’m about to say, Yes, there was an incident backstage before we went live on tonight’s show,” Khan said. “We are investigating it. Until I learn more about what happened, I can’t really address it at this time. So, I can’t comment, but I did want to be honest and tell you that’s the case.”
What we know is the incident took place minutes before the show was supposed to go live on PPV. Perry and Punk had issues going back to Collision several weeks ago when Punk supposedly confronted Perry about using real glass.
Then during the Zero Hour match with Hook, Perry stated to the camera “That’s real glass, go cry me a river.” This was directed at CM Punk.

Fightful Select reported that one side of the story said Perry confronted Punk backstage, leading to a shoving contest between the two, followed by Punk putting Perry in a choke.
PWTorch reported that Punk confronted Perry as he was heading to the entrance for his match against Joe. Punk asked if they had a problem and then pie-faced Perry after exchanging words, restraining him in a face lock and throwing punches before they were separated.
Miro commented on X, formerly Twitter, that the Fightful report was “fake and untrue” but didn’t go into further details:

Perry was asked to leave the venue while Punk remained in his locker room. Per Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez, Punk was asked to leave as well and did so after Perry left. Earlier in the night Perry lost the FTW to hook, while Punk retained the “Real” World Championship against Samoa Joe.
You have to wonder if this was a planned work to set up All Out next week in Chicago. Or is this just another case of guys not letting stuff go?
AEW News: Mercedes Mone To AEW?
Mercedes Mone was in attendance for the AEW All-In show at Wembley Stadium. Khan in his post-show scrum stated he flew her in to watch the action and get a feel for the company. He also stated Mone is not medically cleared yet. What was interesting is that he made these comments during Saraya’s part of the media scrum.
Per Wrestling Observer, Khan called Mone a “top international star” and it was great to have her at the show and that a lot of “things could happen there.” Saraya added she can’t wait for Mone “to finally join us.”
Other News and Notes:
- Tony Khan announced AEW will be back again in Wembley Stadium next year with All In.
- All In and All Out will take place a week apart again next year.
- Khan then announced WrestleDream in honor of Antonio Inoki in Seattle on Sunday, October 1, and Full Gear on Saturday, November 18 in Los Angeles at the Forum.
