Summerslam 2023 is in the books, and the best storyline in pro wrestling continues to deliver. Roman Reigns retained the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship defeating Jey Uso in Tribal Combat in the main event of Summerslam. However, how he won will be talked about for months to come.
With the match in hand, Jey Uso hit the Uso splash on Roman Reigns. As the referee was counting three, Jey got pulled out of the ring by a hooded individual. The man revealed himself to be Jimmy Uso. Jimmy had been out of action for weeks after Solo Sikoa put him through a table. However, he returned to cost his brother the championship.

There was a lot of distain on his face for his twin brother Jey. While Roman had this look of shock on his face. Meanwhile, the wiseman Paul Heyman had a look of revenge on his face when Jimmy turned on his brother.
If you did not see this coming, then you have not been watching wrestling that long. You knew there was going to be interference. Heck, Solo Sikoa got involved and there were teases of him and Roman not being on the same page. In fact, Roman and Solo went face to face before Jey Uso put Roman through the barricade. That was a little payback for Roman spearing Solo when they were setting up Jey for the spike and spear.

Clearly, WWE is not ending this storyline anytime soon. In fact, Roman retaining only adds to the drama because now as Teddy Repantis said on the Full Press Wrestling Podcast, it appears this is heading to a fatal four way match with the potential of the Bloodline reuniting.
While some people are not happy with the finish because it is odd after Jimmy Uso wanted his brother Jey to turn on Roman, the way WWE will play it off is Jimmy wanted to be in the spotlight. Jimmy Uso will say, “Jey, you had your chances and blew.” This should have been me. Or they could go in another direction altogether.
If you thought the Bloodline storyline was going away anytime soon. Think again. As Paul Heyman stated in the post-show press conference last night when asked when the storyline would end.
” Bottom of the third. We’re just figuring this stuff out. We haven’t even hit our stride yet. It has yet to reach its full potential.”
As Sean Ross Sapp reported, Roman Reigns is not losing the title anytime soon, and Roman will lose the title when he feels like it.
Buckle up, folks. This will be a long ride that isn’t even close to being completed yet.
The main event itself was good. Tribal Combat no disqualification match, that saw Paul Heyman play his role so perfectly. He begged and pleaded with Jey Uso not to hurt the Tribal Chief with all those chairs. This match spilled to the floor as expected. Fans wanted tables and they got them.
No surprise there was a ton of interference, as we previously mentioned. Overall it was a good match that saw Roman Reigns keep the title, thanks to Jimmy Uso.
Now we wait until Smackdown to find out why Jimmy turned on Jey and what direction this storyline goes next.
