Welcome to the wrestling roundup where we look at the biggest stories from the past week or weekend in wrestling. In the wrestling roundup, we not only will look at the news but rumours as well. Again fans love speculating on rumours. And all the rumours will be cited from credible sources in the wrestling world. Remember with rumours, none of them have been confirmed. With that said let’s dive into this edition of the wrestling roundup looking at the WWE Draft Coming Back, A CM Punk Return Coming and so much more.
Wrestling Roundup
WWE News: WWE Draft Coming Back
On the latest edition of WWE Smackdown, Paul “Triple H” Levesque announced the WWE Draft was coming back. Triple H proclaimed when it is all said and done, “This year’s Draft will change the game.”
Now we have seen the Draft be used as ratings boost as Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer note. However, the last couple of drafts have not done well because the fans know it does not mean anything. The fans see wrestlers from both Raw and Smackdown appear on both shows all the time.
As Bryan Alvarez of FW4 Online notes, business is better when there is no brand split and draft. Meltzer followed up by saying that everyone is involved in the draft. Not just Raw and Smackdown wrestlers, but NXT wrestlers too. We are expecting some call-ups from the results that happened at NXT Stand and Deliver during Wrestlemania Weekend.
If WWE can do what they did with the first draft back in 2002 and develop new stars from it great. If not it will be another waste of time.
AEW News: CM Punk Wants To Return to AEW
Following up on a story from a previous wrestling roundup, CM Punk wants to come back to AEW and work with the Elite.
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, Punk has been in contact with AEW, reiterating a desire to resume wrestling. And while there remains a lot of backstage tension and hurt feelings, several different scenarios have been laid out that could make it possible.
There have been indications that Punk is open to burying the hatchet with The Elite. Recall, these were the major parties who were at the center of the infamous All Out Post Media Brawl. Doing business with Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks is a big-money feud many people in wrestling have been keeping their eyes on.
As Bryan Alvarez notes on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer, there has been no indication given to him, the Bucks and Omega want to work with CM Punk.
New crowned AEW Tag Team Champion and one-half of FTR Dax Harwood has been pushing for Punk to come back to the ring and work with the Elite. The idea is to have a trios match at All-In at Wembley Stadium. We know FTR (Harwood and Cash Wheeler) are good friends with Punk and would like to do more trios matches with him. The one and only time Punk and FTR had a match together Punk was injured.
It will be interesting to see where things go.

AEW/ROH News: Brian Cage Staying in AEW/ROH
According to FIghtful, Brian Cage signed a new long-term contract to stay with AEW and ROH. Cage is part of the Embassy and currently holds the six-man titles with Gates of Agnoy. On the latest edition of Rampage, the Embassy has teamed up with Swerve Strickland’s Mogul Affiliates. Their first target is Darby Allin.
Addition Wrestling News: Plans for Gunther
It appears according to WRKD Wrestling the plan is for Gunther and Brock Lesnar to battle “sometime in the summer. Potentially at Summerslam.”
Many fans wanted Gunther to take on Lesnar at Wrestlemania. This is a big-money match and deserves a big stage like Summerslam. We will see where it goes.
