It’s Monday and you know what that means… ratings for AEW Dynamite are out. Well at least for this week as it was American Thanksgiving and there were no ratings on Thursday. After a disappointing Go-Home Show with a terrible crowd, AEW was back in Chicago for the Post Full Gear show. Let’s see how this show did on Thanksgiving Eve.
AEW Dynamite Full Gear Post Show
AEW Dynamite was live from Chicago, IL as it was the post-Full Gear show. It was another loaded card for AEW with several title matches along with match two of the best-of-seven series between the Elite and Death Triangle for the World Trios titles. This was a hot crowd like it was Saturday in Newark, NJ for Full Gear. This was an action-packed show from start to finish with a lot of surprises.
The November 23rd edition of AEW Dynamite week’s show was viewed by 880,000 people and did a .32 in the 18-49 demo.
AEW Dynamite, Wednesday on TBS (8-10pm):

This was a much better performance than the go-home show. Again the crowd makes the difference. This Chicago crowd was like a World Cup atmosphere. Chants throughout the night. After a disappointing performance in the ratings last week, AEW’s numbers were back up, but not to the levels people expect. To be sub-900 following a PPV like Full Gear is a little disappointing. In addition to the viewership being up so was the demo.
There was a lot of competition on television heading into the Thanksgiving weekend in America. This was a solid performance and AEW is putting together great numbers not only on TV but on PPV as well. Even without CM Punk in the company people are watching and enjoying. AEW Dynamite was sixth on cable behind NBA and World Cup Soccer according to Showbuzzdaily.com.
Show Recap
The show kicked off with William Regal in the ring talking about what happened on Saturday night at Full Gear as he helped MJF win the AEW World Title from Jon Moxley. MJF was not here this week but would be back next week to explain what happened and what was in the email Regal sent to Mr. Friedman. This brought out Moxley, who was intercepted by Bryan Danielson. Danielson talked about how they all have done bad things, and how he sees Regal as a father figure. This was a great way to prolong this story was MJF not there.
Moxley gave Regal an ultimatum to walk away and run or else feel his wrath. Moxley was on edge all promo long as he really wanted to get his hands on Regal. This is a nice full circle of the story between Danielson and Moxley who formed the Blackpool Combat Club. It is an interesting dynamic in where this could go and have we seen the last of the Blackpool Combat Club?
The opening match of the night was Orange Cassidy vs Jake Hagger for the All-Atlantic Title. This was a fun match between these two. Cassidy was trying to get Hager’s hat on. A nice little moment to begin with Hagger putting on Cassidy’s sunglasses. For the most part, Hager dominated the match, but Cassidy got the win with the Orange punch and retained the title. After the Factory came down before the House of Black returned and laid out everyone.
The World Title Eliminator Final match was next between Ricky Starks and Ethan Page. Starks was injured heading into this match. He had a busy weekend taking on Brian Cage in the semifinals on Zero Hour at Full Gear. Page focused his attention on Starks’s injuries. And like he has done his whole career, Starks overcame the odds. This was a fantastic match between these two guys as Starks earned the World Title shot at MJF at Winter is Coming.
The second match of the best of the seven series between the Elite and Death Triangle was next. The winner of this series would be crowned World Trios Champions. The Elite were in enemy territory after what went down with CM Punk post All Out. Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks soaked it all in. They toyed with the crowd as they pulled out some CM Punk moves to troll the crowd. There were a lot of chants towards them. And this crowd really cheered Death Triangle.
These six men will never put on a bad match. This was another good one. Seven matches will be excellent television. In the end, Death Triangle got the win when Penta used a hammer to hit Matt Jackson and PAC got the pin. Rey Fenix was not happy about this and the cheating. AEW is just prolonging the inevitable with this group.

It was announced prior to the women’s match that Jamie Hayter was the NEW Undisputed AEW Women’s World Champion. Thunder Rosa had to vacate the title and relinquish it as it is unknown when she will be back from injury. Toni Storm’s reign is no longer viewed as an interim reign but a full official reign. The three-team tag match with Hayter and Britt Baker coming out on top. Again AEW continues to slow-burn the Hayter babyface run as Baker continues to overshadow her in matches.
The main event was Chris Jericho taking on Tomohiro Ishii for ROH World Title. This was a hard-hitting affair between two guys that have a history. Fun main event showing casing the relationship and history between wrestlers in AEW and NJPW. Jericho was busted open by the striking of Ishii. Jericho had an excellent match and continues to go through former ROH Champions. Ishii tapped to the Liontamer and to close the show Jericho took a right hand from Claudio Castagnoli as they set up their battle for ROH Final Battle.
That was the show.
