It’s Thursday and you know what that means… ratings for AEW Dynamite are out. Dynamite was back on its regular Wednesday night time slot on TBS. The road to Full Gear is on as this was the Go-Home Dynamite show. After a week off of no ratings we are back looking at the numbers heading into Saturday night.
AEW Dynamite Full Gear Go Home Show
AEW Dynamite was live from Bridgeport, CT as it was a preview of what was to come Saturday at Full Gear in New Jersey. The card for Full Gear is coming together nicely as we know the main event will be Jon Moxley vs MJF for the AEW World Title. This show was action-packed as the fans were ready for surprises and confirmation of certain individuals coming back.
Speaking of Full Gear, Full Press Wrestling will be live on-site for the show. Keep an eye out for updates on Twitter. Onto the show, three title matches headlined this show with multiple surprises throughout it.
The November 16th edition of AEW Dynamite week’s show was viewed by 818,000 people and did a .28 in the 18-49 demo.
Wednesday Night Wrestling Rating:
AEW: 818,000 viewers (.28 18-49) 4th on cable.
Not a good number for a go home show. #aew @Ted_X @bilalv87 @Ringside_Heat @LexTanMedia @AndyMc81 @seeseehawk @Hockey_Poker @FloppyEarRacing @SwaGGy_D33 @2beerspodcast @iglen31 @FPC_Wrestling

This was not as good a performance as expected for a go-home show to a PPV. The company usually does well heading into a pay-per-view. But this was down for them. Usually, their go-home shows do really well. This was one of AEW’s worst. Ratings were back up in the 930,000 range last week. The week prior, Dynamite had dipped to 911,000 viewers. Not to mention their P18-49 rating slipped under .30 for the first time in a long time.
This week’s show was lower than last week’s and definitely lower than two weeks ago. The demo was up as well last week but down again this week. If you look at last year, AEW was near a million viewers heading into Full Gear.
There was competition on with the NBA but that was about it. However, AEW is still putting together good numbers in light of what happened several months ago now. The show was number fourth on cable according to Showbuzzdaily.com.
Show Recap
The show kicked off with the participants of the four-way match for the ROH World Title on Saturday as Bryan Danielson and Claudio Castagnoli took on Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara. This was a fun tag team match. The Blackpool Combat Club and the Jericho Appreciation Society have their issues. This was a good match between four guys that know how to work. It feels like Jericho is going to retain on Saturday but Claudio again performs when the lights shine the brightest. The four-way will be good.
Following that the Acclaimed debuted their new music video ahead of the Tag Team title showdown with Swerve in Our Glory. From there Anthony Bowens took on Swerve Strickland. This was a fun match. Swerve is going to money when he gets a singles push in AEW. He is a perfect heel and he did get the victory. This means Acclaimed is not losing on Saturday.
Following that Samoa Joe cut a promo on Wardlow saying the man he feared the most was standing behind him all along. Powerhouse Hobbs came out and looked to fight Joe, however, Wardlow showed up and cleared the ring. He did a great dive over the top rope and stood tall as it was announced the TNT title would be on the line in a triple-threat match.
The show was moving along as we got to the Trios Title match between Death Triangle taking on Top Flight and AR Fox. This was a fun match. These trios matches are. Top Flight and AR Fox had some great spots in the match. So did the Lucha Bros. Rey Fenix is unreal with what he can do. Death Triangle won and after the match, Pac cut a promo on certain individuals and the rumors of their return. So he challenged them to a match at Full Gear and it was announced the suspensions for the Elite will be over Saturday. It will be the Elite and Death Triangle for the Trios Belts.

Britt Baker cut an emotional promo ahead of her match with Saraya on Saturday. The highlight was how she talked about how she carried the division and was the face during the pandemic. She isn’t wrong. Up next was the World Title Eliminator match between Ethan Page and Bandido. This was a solid match. Bandido’s strength was on display again. Page got the victory as he moves on in the tourney. Good to see him get a singles push. Only helps the rivalry when Scorpio Sky comes back.
Toni Storm took on Ana Jay in Women’s World Title Eliminator match. The outcome was never in doubt. Storm was not losing ahead of the match on Saturday against Jamie Hayter. Do not be surprised if a title change comes Saturday as Hayter is on a roll. Saraya cut a promo on Baker talking about how she is tired of the back and forth and just wanted to wrestle.
The main event saw Jon Moxley cut a promo on MJF. He wants to know if MJF has what it takes to win the title. Moxley feels MJF is not ready to win and challenged him to show him something on Saturday or Sunday or whenever the show is. The firm came out to beat up Moxley again, but MJF came out for the save. Though to be honest, we are being swerved here as the Firm just let him beat them up.
MJF grabbed the mic and said he is the devil and the greatest trick the Devil pulled was convincing people he never existed. He talked about how it was his time. Feels like there is a turn coming for Regal against Moxley or the Firm helps him win the belt.
That was the show.
