It’s Thursday and you know what that means… ratings for Wednesday night AEW Dynamite are out. AEW was in Philadelphia for the post AEW Grand Slam show. It was another packed show. Let’s see how they did.
AEW Dynamite
This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite was live from Philadelphia. The crowd was jacked up and ready for what AEW Dynamite was going to offer.
The September 28th edition of AEW Dynamite week’s show was viewed by 990,000 people and did a .34 in the 18-49 demo.
AEW Dynamite last night on TBS (8-10pm):
990,000 viewers
P18-49 rating: 0.34

This ends the five straight weeks with over a million viewers. However, when there is big news in the world, viewership goes down. The charts were dominated by Hurricane Ian news. The timing was poor as AEW Dynamite was probably on track for six straight weeks of over a million viewers. Both the viewership and demo were down from the previous week. The show was number nine on cable according to Showbuzzdaily.com.
The Weather channel dominated the charts, especially in the 18-49 demo. Along with the nightly news talk shows.
Show Recap
The show began with the Ring of Honor World Championship celebration from the Ocho Chris Jericho. The Jericho Appreciation Society was there to appreciate Jericho and his accomplishment. Luigi Primo was there spinning his dough from New York and as the JAS took a shot at Philadelphia. Good for Luigi Primo for taking his social media success to the mainstream. However, before the celebration could wrap up Daniel Garcia told Chris Jericho he had something to get off of his chest. But before he could say what he wanted to say, Jericho cut him off. Then Bryan Danielson came out and Jericho and Danielson went at it before Garcia cut a great promo. This led to a match between Danielson and “Daddy Magic” Matt Menard.
Danielson versus Menard was a solid match. Angelo Parker interfered before Claudio came down and brought Angelo to the back. Danielson picked up the victory over Menard as the feud with the Blackpool Combat Club and the JAS continues. The best part of the segment was the fans chanting they want pizza after the JAS told them they couldn’t have any.
Speaking of feuds Wheeler Yuta and MJF continued theirs this week. Yuta is getting better on the mic. But MJF again outclassed him. Though good on Yuta for sticking up for Tony Schviane for what happened last week. MJF is a generational talent and continues to play up his win at the Casino Ladder Match. For Yuta, it was more about wanting a fight than talking. The Gunn Club was there to prevent any interaction. But a match was signed for next week’s episode of Dynamite.
After this segment was Jon Moxley taking on Juice Robinson. This was a World Title Eliminator match. A very good match between these two rivals. Entering the match, Robinson is one of two guys that have beaten Moxley in 2022. Nobody expected Robinson to win, but the build-up felt like he could. MJF was once again watching in a luxury suite. Moxley got the win with Hangman Adam Page coming down after to set up the fight in Cincinnati. We heard from MJF again saying both guys were fighting to lose his title. The reveal of Yuta beating up MJF was excellent as nobody expected it.

Next up was Saraya. This segment was decent. Saraya talked about being back and being the Revolution wherever she was. At times this segment dragged with the women’s division being brought out. But it was just the people there. The visual did not look good, especially for the Lumberjack match between Serena Deeb and Toni Storm for the title. It was a solid match with Storm winning. Deeb looking strong in defeat and eventually will win the title. But one thing is clear while Saraya is the Revolution, Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D is the face of the AEW Women’s Division and it’s not even close.
After Ricky Starks win on Rampage and his squash match on Dynamite, AEW is setting him up for a title run eventually. Following this was the main event for the ROH World Title between Chris Jericho and Bandido. This match was all about Bandido and introducing him to a national audience. Especially for those who never watched Ring of Honor. This was a great match with so many good spots. Bandido’s strength is amazing and Jericho continues to show why he is one of the best. Jericho continues to spit in the face of Ring of Honor and the code of honor. After Jericho won by dishonorable tactics, he announced he is going after Ring of Honor’s past and all their champions. As the show went off the air he attacked Bobby Cruise.
