It’s Thursday and you know what that means… ratings for Wednesday night AEW Dynamite are out. This week AEW Dynamite was highlighted by the Fallout of All Out on Sunday. And not just what happened on screen, but what happened backstage as well.
If you have not heard, newly crowned AEW World Champion CM Punk and newly crowned Trios Champions Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks were suspended and stripped of their titles due to the backstage fight. Changes to Dynamite had to make on the fly prior to the show. Along with multiple meetings. Not to mention Punk was hurt and out of action. Nobody knows how long the suspensions are and how long Punk will be out or if he even returns.
With that being said, it was an anticipated Dynamite. Let’s see how it did.
AEW Dynamite Ratings Still Strong
This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite opened with President and CEO Tony Khan opening the show with an announcement that the AEW World Title and Trios Titles were vacated. A tournament was going to happen to determine a new champion. The new champion was going to be crowned on September 21st at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam. In addition, the match between Death Triangle and Best Friends was for AEW World Trios Champions.
With that being said, this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite was live in Buffalo, NY and the crowd was electric. The show was jam-packed with non-stop action. It was a very clean show too. Considering the circumstances. Tony Khan did get booed some, but promised a great night of action and to be better over the next couple of weeks.
The September 7th edition of AEW Dynamite week’s show was viewed by 1,035,000 million people and did a .38 in the 18-49 demo.

The 18-49 demo number was the highest since June 1. That episode was the Dynamite following Double or Nothing with the MJF promo. MJF was on this show and had another great promo. The first three-quarters of Dynamite had the highest viewership. This is the third-week Dynamite had over a million viewers. AEW Dynamite was number two on cable according to Showbuzzdaily.com. Both numbers were up from the previous week.
Show Recap
After the opening announcement, MJF returned to Dynamite to a big babyface reaction. A package was shown from All Out as the Devils returned. He was so over in Buffalo. Jon Moxley came out as MJF turned heel. He again spiced up his leaving in 2024 mentioning WWE and people over there. It looks as if we are heading towards Moxley and MJF for the title. After MJF was done, Moxley cut a passionate promo about the AEW World Title. It was kind of a shoot going off what happened on Sunday.
Death Triangle and Best Friends put on a heck of a wrestling match. Again this was for the AEW World Trios Titles. Excellent opener with Death Triangle being the new AEW World Trios Champs. There was a great spot with Trio Canadian Destroyers.
Following that Toni Storm, the new AEW Interim Women’s Champ took on Penelope Ford. Solid match. Storm got the win. Following that the Acclaimed came out. From there it was announced there will be a rematch for the Tag Titles at Grand Slam Dynamite. Also, Jericho cut a promo saying this was his locker room and nobody was taking it away from him.

Wardlow was in action. He squashed Tony Neese. After he cut a promo saying how this was his world and things are getting back on track for him. The first Tournament of Champions Wild Card match was up next. It was Bryan Danielson vs Hangman Adam Page 3. This was a solid match. These guys have great chemistry. It was given time and showed the importance of the title. Danielson evened his rivalry with Page and will face Jericho next week.
The main event was Daniel Garcia vs Wheeler Yuta for the ROH Pure Championship. Another excellent match. Garcia was over in Buffalo being the hometown boy. Garcia got another signature win being Yuta for the title. After the match, Danielson came out. After the Code of Honor was over, Danielson put the title around Garcia’s wait and they shook hands.
The match between Danielson and Jericho has even another layer to it. Given the tug of war with Garcia. Danielson was right that Garcia is a pro wrestler. Especially winning by submission.
