It’s Thursday and you know what that means… ratings for Wednesday night AEW Dynamite are out. It has been a while since we did the ratings for Dynamite. It has been hectic with the Stanley Cup Playoffs on. Let’s get back to business for the first night of Fyter Fest.
Championship Matches Highlight AEW Dynamite
AEW has come out of Forbidden Door looking real good. Over the last two weeks, ratings have been better than they were before Forbidden Door as the company was trying to introduce all these new faces for what appears to be a once-a-year PPV.
With that being said, this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite was the first night of Fyter Fest and it featured three championship matches. AEW Dynamite was live from Savannah, GA and the crowd was into everything on this card. The show was really good too. This week’s show was viewed by 942,000 people and did .32 in the 18-49 demo. AEW Dynamite has been number one in the demo on cable for four consecutive according to Showbuzzdaily.com.
AEW Dynamite last night on TBS (8-10pm):
942,000 viewers
P18-49 rating: 0.32

The show opened with the TNT Title match between Wardlow and Orange Cassidy. Wardlow won the title last week, and this was his first defence. This was an excellent match and opener. Wardlow is so over and the people love him. They love Orange Cassidy as well. Both guys work well together as the champion retained the belt.
Our second championship match saw the interim AEW World Champion Jon Moxley defend the title against Konosuke Takeshita. Takeshita has been on a roll in AEW. Even though he has come up short in big matches. You do not forget the matches he has. Takeshita had another great one with Moxley following his match with Eddie Kingston. Moxley continues to be on a roll and good to see him have the run as champ all be it on an interim with fans. He never got that chance because he was champion right before the pandemic hit.

The main event saw the Young Bucks defend the Tag Team titles against Swerve in Our Glory (Swerve Strickland and Keith) and Ricky Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs. This was an excellent main event to close a great show. All six guys were awesome. You will never have a bad Young Bucks match. But the other four guys were really over. The crowd was eating up the near falls. Starks, Hobbs, Swerve, and Lee work so well together. In the end, Swerve and Lee won the Tag Team Titles.
Other notes from the show include Claudio Castagnoli vs Jake Hager, what an excellent wrestling match this was. Also, Chris Jericho and Eddie Kingston continued their feud leading to their Barbed Wire Everything Match next week.
