It’s Thursday and you know what that means… ratings for Wednesday night AEW Dynamite are out. Though ratings were down last week, it was a good show. Better than in weeks past. This week’s show was jam-packed with loads of fun matches as the build to Forbidden Door is on.
Ladder Match Highlights AEW Dynamite
AEW is on the road to Foribben Door. This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite once again was building towards the PPV, which owner Tony Khan said would be an annual event. Not only that but AEW had to call audible because of the Jeff Hardy news making the Tag Team Title Ladder Match from trios match to a straight match between the Young Bucks and Jurassic Express.
With that being said the June 15th edition of AEW was live from St. Louis and it was a good crowd. The show was excellent too. Non-stop pace. This week’s show was viewed by 761,000 people and did .28 in the 18-49 demo. The viewership took a hit this week and was down from the previous week. In addition, the demo was down as well, though AEW Dynamite was still second on cable according to Showbuzzdaily.com. The Stanley Cup Final was on ABC which meant AEW Dynamite had heavy competition from the Tampa Bay Lightning and Colorado Avalanche. This was the lowest viewership number and P18-49 in over a year.

The show opened with the Hair vs Hair match between Chris Jericho and Ortiz of Proud and Powerful. This was an excellent opener as the feud between Jericho Appreciate Society and Eddie Kingston, Santana, Ortiz and Blackpool Combat Club heads towards Blood and Guts. Good back and forth match. Both JAS and Blackpool Combat Club were involved. Even Kingston hit the spinning back fist on Jericho. However, that wasn’t enough as Fuego del Sol appeared to help Jericho win the match. After it was revealed that Fuego was Sammy Guevara. Also, Ortiz lived up to his word and shaved his head.
After that Wardlow beat up 20 guys and squared off with American Top Team. Then it was the match of the night between Dax Harwood and Will Ospreay. These two guys put on a wrestling clinic. Go watch this match. So many great reversals and grappling action. Ospreay got the win and after the match, Orange Cassidy returned staring down Ospreay. Those two will meet at Forbidden Door.
After we had the showdown between Jon Moxley and Hiroshi Tanahashi to set up the AEW Interim World Title match. These guys have been on a three-year collision course. During this JAS came down to set up matches. Following that we had an AEW All-Atlantic qualifier between Miro and Ethan Page. Another solid match. Miro looks great and feels destined to win this title.

Toni Storm and Britt Baker should have gotten more time, but they put on a heck of a match. Following that Thunder Rosa came out and Storm will battle her for the title. Jay White appeared on AEW television sneaking up behind Adam Page to lay him out. Adam Cole is not happy about not being in the title match. The main event saw a solid ladder match between the Bucks and Jurassic Express. So many crazy spots on the ladders and through tables. The Young Bucks won the titles and became two-time champions. After Christian Cage turned on Jungle Boy.
