It’s Thursday and you know what that means… ratings for Wednesday night AEW Dynamite are out. Though ratings were down last week, it was a good show. Better than in weeks past. This week’s show was jam-packed with loads of fun matches and segments throughout as we head towards Double or Nothing.
Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Highlights AEW Dynamite
It was Vegas Week for AEW as every show is live from Las Vegas. After three straight weeks of declining viewership, AEW Dynamite rebounded to be back over the 900,000 viewer mark. However, they drop in the P18-49 to seventh with so much competition.
This week’s show was viewed 929,000 by people and did .35 in the 18-49 demo. The viewership remained strong heading into Double or Nothing. It was the second straight week viewership was over the 900,000 mark. The demo also rose .35 heading into the PPV. This was the best viewership number for AEW Dynamite since April 20th. Even with competition from the NHL and NBA, plus the news, AEW was sixth on cable according to Showbuzzdaily.com.

This show was an excellent show from start to finish. Tony Khan is getting you ready for Double or Nothing this week. The best feud in the company right now is MJF vs Wardlow and the show opened with the cage match. Wardlow took on Shawn Spears with MJF being the referee. Obviously, MJF was doing everything in his power so Wardlow didn’t win, but it made for great TV as MJF is such a good heel. Wardlow gets the match after mistiming a chair shot between Spears and MJF. The build for Wardlow has been excellent.
Then we had a great promo segment between Hangman Adam Page and CM Punk. This will be an interesting match as Punk feels like he should be crowned the new champion, but it is time to end Page’s run as being the champion. From there Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston were in action with William Regal and Chris Jericho on commentary. After the match, Blackpool Combat Club, Kingston, Santana and Ortiz brawled with Jericho Appreciation Society.

Then we had FTR in action against Roppongi Vice for the ROH Tag Team Titles. This was an excellent match. The finish was crazy to the match as United Empire’s Jeff Cobb and Great O-Khan showed up staking claim to the ROH tag team titles as Forbidden Door PPV is being set up. We got a three-way between Swerve Strickland, Jungle Boy, and Ricky Starks setting up the tag match for Sunday. This was good.
We had some good promos especially with the Hardys as they take on the Young Bucks on Sunday. The show closed up setting up the finals for the Owen Hart Tournament. Dr. Britt Baker advanced to the final over Toni Storm and will face either Ruby Soho or Kris Statlander. Samoa Joe advanced over Kyle O’Reilly and will take on Adam Cole at the PPV.
