The show was solid though not as good as the previous weeks. It still had a loaded card though. AEW Dynamite began what was dubbed “Championship Week” with four of the five major titles being defended on three of the next four days.
AEW Dynamite opened with a bang as CM Punk took on Penta Oscuro. This was a highly entertaining match as Punk inches closer to fighting for the World Championship. We then got another excellent tag team match that saw Jurassic Express defend the AEW World Tag Team Titles against reDRagon. Jungle Boy is a star in this business and when he gets a singles push it will be worth the wait. The champs retained, but FTR came out and they are moreover now than they have ever been. It appears FTR wants to add more gold to their collection.
AEW continues to do everything right with Wardlow. The story they are telling with him and MJF is great. For the second time this year, Shawn Dean got a victory over MJF after Wardlow forced a count-out as he blocked the ring being held back by security guards. We saw a solid trios match between the Jericho Appreciation Society and Eddie Kingston along with Santana and Ortiz. Marina Shafir was in action while Ricky Starks got a hero’s welcome in New Orleans as he teamed with Powerhouse Hobbs against Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland.
Finally, we got a great interview from Blackpool Combat Club as the main event saw Minoru Suzuki taking on Samoa Joe for the ROH Television Title. That was a great match that saw Joe win the title and the debut of a new stable that was a bit underwhelming.
