Who are three potential surprise entrants we could see in the 2022 Men’s Royal Rumble?
The Royal Rumble is always a time for some surprise returns or debuts in WWE. We’ve seen huge debuts (like AJ Styles in 2016), monumental returns (Edge in 2020), or great one-off appearances (Hurricane returning multiple times recently). Every year we speculate on who could show up.
Some rumors have already been circulating about celebrities and wrestlers alike being in the match (spoilers in this link). Let’s speculate on some other potential surprise entrants. Who could (or should) show up? Here are three options.
Pete Dunne
The Bruiserweight could be on his way to the main roster. Pete Dunne has already started to appear on main roster shows like Main Event. Dunne has had a ton of time in NXT and is ready for the main roster. There isn’t a spot for him in the new look NXT. WWE could use another influx of talent on Raw & SmackDown, and Pete Dunne is more than ready for that spot. He’s still only 28 and would make a great addition to the match and the roster going forward.

Kane
There’s always a big surprise legend return, so let’s speculate who it could be. We haven’t seen Kane in many moons, and he’s one of the legends most associated with the match type. He has the most eliminations all-time with 46, and the 7th most cumulative time spent in rumble matches. Bring in Glenn Jacobs for a classic Kane run, complete with mask, pyro, and the like. The people will pop, and he can eliminate somebody like Madcap Moss or Johnny Knoxville.
Corey Graves
This one is not as unlikely as it may seem at first glance. For the first time since leaving the ring in 2014 due to concussion issues, Corey Graves has been cleared for an in-ring return. We’ve seen commentators enter the Rumble before, some with limited wrestling experience (looking at you, Michael Cole). Graves has made it clear he’s interested in wrestling again, and this would be a way to give Graves a chance to get back in the ring. Would it lead to a full-time return? We aren’t sure, but it would be a memorable moment.
