What women should WWE bring in as surprises for the 2022 Royal Rumble?
The Royal Rumble field this year is taking an interesting shape. Ahead of the show, WWE announced many women for the field. This included the usual collection of talent from Raw & SmackDown, but also some names that would’ve counted as surprise entrants if not announced ahead of time. The Bella Twins, Summer Rae, Lita, Michelle McCool, and Kelly Kelly were all announced as legend entrants. More surprisingly was the announcement of Impact Women’s Champion Mickie James as an entrant. The forbidden door is wide open, leading to lots of speculation for the remaining nine spots.
A report has come out that Jessie McKay & Cassie Lee, formerly the IIconics in WWE, were offered a spot in the rumble and declined. While they may not be in the rumble, we can start speculating for who should be. Here are three names that would make for great surprise entrants in the Women’s Royal Rumble.
Raquel Gonzalez
There may be no woman in NXT who is more main roster ready right now than Raquel Gonzalez. The former NXT Women’s Champion has a look that is made for the main roster. She stands out and has improved massively in the ring. Gonzalez doesn’t have much direction in NXT, having failed to recapture the NXT Women’s title. Have her make her debut with an impressive showing in the rumble, and prep her for a spot on Raw or SmackDown.

Ronda Rousey
This is the potential entrant with the highest likelihood of showing up. According to reports from Fightful Select, WWE is pushing for Rousey to return at the Royal Rumble. WWE hasn’t seen Rousey since she lost her Raw Women’s Championship at Wrestlemania 35. She’d be a welcome addition to TV as WWE always loves the mainstream attention that Rousey would draw. If she returns, it’s likely she’d need to go right to a main event spot and would be a likely winner of the rumble match.
Jordynne Grace
If the forbidden door is truly open, why not get another Impact wrestler in the rumble? AEW seems to be out of the question, but they’re clearly in a working relationship with Impact. Jordynne Grace would be a great addition to a rumble match. She could enter and play the role of dominating powerhouse, tossing out stars and increasing the interest in Impact. Grace is a special talent and would make for a fun addition to the rumble.
Those are three pitches for some surprise entrants, but who do you want to see? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter at @FPC_Wrestling.
