It’s Thursday and you know what that means… ratings for Wednesday night Dynamite are out. After a subpar AEW Dynamite the week prior, Tony Kahn pulled out all the stops for the third week on TBS. Let’s see how AEW Dynamite did in terms of the ratings.
AEW Dynamite: TBS Era Begins
The January 19th, 2022 edition of AEW Dynamite was back in Washington, D.C. for the first time since the first-ever Dynamite in 2019. This week’s show was viewed by 1,032,000 people and did a .44 in the 18-49 demo which is about 570,000 people. Though this number is up from a week ago. AEW Dynamite finished ahead of RAW in the demo for this week. Dynamite did a .44 while RAW did a .43. This was Dynamite’s highest viewership in 18-49 demo since September 29 and its highest total viewership since October 6th. According to Showbuzzdaily.com, AEW was number one in the demo.

This was a very good episode of AEW Dynamite as Jon Moxley returned to AEW for the first time in several months. He cut a great promo to start the show and will be in action Live on Rampage this Friday night against Ethan Page. AEW went back to their playbook of a fun match to start with Adam Cole and Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D taking on Orange Cassidy and Kris Statlander. This was a good match with Cole and Baker winning. But this set up a match next week on Dynamite between Cole and Cassidy in a lights-out match.

In addition, CM Punk and MJF feud got back on track with Punk squashing Shawn Spears before facing off with MJF in the ring. Though the promo earlier on made fans want to see Wardlow and MJF. Cody Rhodes cut a promo which was interesting. Go watch it if you haven’t seen it. He wants to come off as a face but it felt more heelish. Rhodes challenged Sammy Guevara to a ladder match next week to unify the TNT Championship. Not to mention is there a rift within the Inner Circle as Santana & Ortiz are starting to question Chris Jericho.
Plus we saw the Kings of Black Thrones in action with a promo from PAC. Then we saw Lance Archer take on Frankie Kazarian. The aftermath when Hangman Adam Page came out is what fans are talking out. Serena Deeb is showing she can have a long title reign. The main event saw Sting & Darby Allin take on the Acclaimed in a very entertaining match. Great to see Sting back in action. Really fun match to close the show.
