Welcome back to another edition of the weekend wrestling ratings with WWE Smackdown and AEW Rampage.
WWE Smackdown was viewed by 2,174,000 million people and did a .56 in the 18-49 demo. The number is down from a week ago. The demo was also down from a week ago when WWE Smackdown did a .58 in the 19-49 demo. WWE Smackdown was second-best on network TV in the demo and second overall between cable and network in the demo.
Smackdown was built around the Royal Rumble battle between Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship. It was a great war of words between these two competitors. With Lesnar being the WWE Champion, they needed a worthy challenger for Reign’s Universal Title. It was a great main event segment as Rollins pointed out Reigns has needed help to keep that title from the Bloodline.
In addition, we saw Charlotte interrupt the returning Lita to Smackdown. Lita is looking for another run in WWE especially now that the women have the Royal Rumble match. It will be interesting to see where this goes between these two. The rest of the show was normal with the Viking Raiders winning a fatal four-way contest to take on the Usos for the Smackdown Tag Team Titles.

AEW Rampage was viewed by 526,000 people and did a .20in the 18-49 demo. These numbers are both down from the previous week. AEW Rampage was 6th on the night on cable according to Showbuzzdail.com.
This was an entertaining card for the first episode of the year. Adam Cole took on a Trent Beretta in a very good opening match. After Shawn Spears won a squash match, he cut a promo on CM Punk, who he will face on Wednesday night on Dynamite. Plus there was trios action in the women’s division. In the main event, Jurassic Express put the tag team titles on the line against John Silver and Alex Reynolds of the Dark Order.
