Welcome back to another edition of the weekend wrestling ratings. This week Smackdown had a best of show heading into the Day 1 PPV. While AEW held its normal Rampage show on New Year’s Eve. Let’s see how these shows did.
AEW Rampage was down from the previous week. This week Rampage was back on Friday night New Year’s Eve as it was AEW Rampage New Year’s Smash. Rampage was viewed by 453,000 people and did a .19 in the 18-49 demo, and ranked 21 on cable according to Showbuzzdaily.com. Again it was New Year’s Eve so there were not a lot of expectations heading into this show. The College football semifinals were ahead of wrestling on New Year’s Eve.

This was an entertaining card for Rampage. Tony Kahn sure went out of 2021 with a bang. Darby Allin opened the show taking on Anthony Bowens of The Acclaimed. This was an entertaining match. After the match, Andrade El Idilo showed up to cause a distraction as The Acclaimed got the one up on Sting and Darby. Then Anna Jay and Tay Conti took on Penelope Ford and The Bunny in a Street Fight. AEW does these matches really well and all four ladies put on a great match. The main event saw Cody Rhodes defend the TNT Championship against Ethan Page. Another solid match to close out a very good Rampage.
As previously mentioned WWE Smackdown had a best of show on FS1 that was viewed by 378,000 people and did a .08 in the 18-49 demo.
