Who should win the TBS Championship and be the inaugural champion?
AEW’s tournament to crown a first-ever TBS Champion continues on tonight’s Dynamite. The 12 woman field has most of AEW’s biggest female stars fighting for the new belt. It’s a pretty wide-open field as we don’t know exactly what the title will be like aside from a women’s midcard belt. Will it be a workhorse title like the Intercontinental Championship? More of an entertainment belt? We’ll have to wait and see once we get our first champion.
First, we need that first champion. Of the 11 remaining competitors, there are three who would be great choices for the first champion. Here are the three best choices for the first TBS Champion.
Thunder Rosa
With Britt Baker seemingly never letting go of the AEW Women’s Championship, AEW may want to go with a face champion for their midcard. If they’re looking to make it a workhorse title, Rosa is the obvious choice. Currently 4th in AEW’s rankings, Rosa has racked up wins in 2021. She’s put on amazing matches and could be someone who makes frequent title defenses. Rosa was one of the four women to get byes in the tournament, meaning AEW thinks highly of her. Giving her the spot as the inaugural champion would be a big moment for one of AEW’s brightest stars.

Jade Cargill
Speaking of bright stars, there may be no wrestler with a better combination of charisma, look, and skill than Jade Cargill. She’s new to wrestling and only started professionally in 2021. So far, so good: she’s 17-0 in AEW. AEW could continue that winning streak for her and have her capture the title. Adding the belt to her will make Cargill’s first loss even more significant. As a bonus, Cargill has tons of charisma and would be great for doing promotional work as champion.
Ruby Soho
Possibly the best choice for the title is the former Ruby Riott. Since joining AEW in September, Soho has become a quick fan favorite. She’s a talented wrestler in the ring and has a strong sense of her character. Soho won her first-round match-up against Penelope Ford and could be positioned as an underdog trying to make it through the grueling tournament. She would be a great fighting champion and a great counter-measure to Dr. Britt Baker.
