It is time for Wrestlemania, the re-do! For some reason WWE has rebranded Backlash to be Wrestlemania Backlash, as if we didn’t already understand the concept of Backlash. The card has six matches, five of them being title bouts. Who is going to come out on top after Wrestlemania: Backlash 2 – This Time It’s Personal? Evan & Javier have their predictions for the show here.
Dirty Dawgs (Dolph Ziggler & Bobby Roode) (c) vs Rey & Dominik Mysterio – SmackDown Tag Team Championships
Evan: I am weirdly excited to see the Mysterios as tag champs. I’m also looking forward to LeBron and his son teaming together in the NBA. We love good father-son boding here. Let’s just give them the titles now.
Pick – The Mysterios
Javier: This feud is undoubtedly going to end with the father/son team winning the gold. However, I don’t see it happening here. I think they extend the program out and the Mysterio’s win the titles in a month or two.
Pick – Dirty Dawgs

Damian Priest vs The Miz – Lumberjack Match
Evan: There are reports of a big push for Priest to help shore up the depth of the main event scene. If that’s the case, he isn’t losing to Miz here.
Pick – Damian Priest
Javier: Yes, the Miz was world champion like a month ago and got rocked by Bad Bunny (king) at Wrestlemania, but who cares? Priest is the rising star, so give him the win.
Pick – Danian Priest

Rhea Ripley (c) vs Asuka vs Charlotte Flair – Raw Women’s Championship
Evan: Rhea Ripley is not going to lose this soon. It would really take away from the Wrestlemania moment she had if she did. You’ll see this as a theme through a lot of my predictions.
Pick – Rhea Ripley
Javier: You cannot put Rhea Ripley over as strong as you did at Wrestlemania and then cut the legs off her run after a month. I think Charlotte does eventually get the title, she always does, but it shouldn’t be until SummerSlam at the earliest.
Pick – Rhea Ripley

Bianca Belair (c) vs Bayley – SmackDown Women’s Championship
Evan: Bayley having something to do already is a plus in this show’s column over Wrestlemania. Remember when she just had a weird Ding Dong, Hello segment on Wrestlemania after being one of the MVPs of the pandemic era? Weird. She isn’t winning here, but I’m happy to see her.
Pick – Bianca Belair
Javier: Under no circumstances should Bianca Belair already drop the title. Bayley had an excellent run with the belt last year, but it’s Belair’s time to rule the division and she should go over strong in this match.
Pick – Bianca Belair

Bobby Lashley (c) vs Drew McIntyre vs Braun Strowman – WWE Championship
Evan: This is the one that feels the hardest to predict. WWE could hit us with a swerve and have it go to Drew or Braun. Yes, I believe they’d even put the belt on Braun for a little. Let’s hope cooler heads prevail and the Age of Lashley continues.
Pick – Bobby Lashley
Javier: I’m scared about McIntyre possibly just beating Strowman for the belt, but I think that’ll just end up being a feud between those two. Lashley still has a lot of juice left in his title reign, so please don’t mess it up.
Pick – Bobby Lashley

Roman Reigns (c) vs Cesaro – Universal Championship
Evan: Cesaro is a star. He’s going to look like an absolute star in this match, and maybe get the closest anyone has been to dethroning Roman Reigns. Unfortunately, that isn’t his role. Bow down to the Tribal Chief.
Pick – Roman Reigns
Javier: For as badly as I want to say that Cesaro is winning the title and rightfully claiming his spot at the top of the card, he’s not the guy to beat Roman. Reigns has been absolutely money during his current run and I genuinely do not want it ending anytime soon. I believe the Usos play a role in the finish to extend the program out longer, but this match should be incredible. Shoutout to Cesaro, man.
Pick – Roman Reigns
So we’re on the same page for all but the Tag Title match. Will it go according to plan, or is WWE going to really swerve us? Think our predictions are bang on or way off? Let us know on Twitter at @FPC_Wrestling.
