It is time for Big E to get his own Wrestlemania moment.
After striking out on his own brand away from his New Day brethren, Big E has been showing the main event potential folks knew he had for years. The singles push for E started when Kofi Kingston was injured in July. Big E started on a singles run that included a definitive feud win over former World Champion Sheamus.
In October, WWE broke our hearts by splitting up the New Day in the draft. While it was sad to see them split, it has given us full-time singles star Big E. It has led to a second Intercontinental Championship run, with E beating Sami Zayn on the Christmas Day episode of SmackDown.
Some believe that Big E’s ceiling is well above the midcard championship he now holds. Big E could be a main eventer. A world champion. He should be a Wrestlemania main eventer and a Royal Rumble winner.
Booking It
Kevin Owens has been a great foil for Roman Reigns, but that feud won’t carry past the Rumble. In the two weeks remaining before the Rumble, Big E needs to be given some big wins. He should defend the Intercontinental Championship at least one more time, having a big win. Give Big E a microphone, preferably during SmackDown and not Talking Smack, and have him say that his goals are bigger than just the IC belt.
The Rumble needs to be a showcase for Big E. Have him enter early, sharing the ring with his New Day brothers in the middle of the match. Big E should get some monumental eliminations, like Keith Lee, A.J. Styles, or other main eventers. After a long, arduous journey, E is victorious and celebrates with Xavier & Kofi.
In the aftermath, Reigns should make it his mission to screw over E at every opportunity. This is how we get the Intercontinental Championship off of Big E. Whether it is Sami Zayn, King Corbin, Shinsuke Nakamura or someone else, the belt gets taken off Big E. Reigns & the Usos target Kofi & Woods and take them out. Big E is one of the best wrestlers for balancing his funny and serious sides. This feud would bring out a level of seriousness we haven’t seen from E on the main roster.
Should he be the one to take the belt off of Reigns? Maybe now is not the time. If booked right, Big E would be the best choice to be the challenger to Reigns on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
