Hell in a Cell has come and gone, Survivor Series is just around the corner, and in about 90-ish days we’ll be crowning new Royal Rumble winners on the road to Wrestlemania 37. Today I’m going to take a crack at predicting what I think the Wrestlemania 37 card could potentially be and how I would book the show of the immortals. I will be taking into consideration that Wrestlemania will most likely not be taking place in Los Angeles this year. Disclaimer: None of these predictions is fact and are merely guesses.
Championship Matches
WWE Championship Match: Randy Orton (c) vs Edge
The thought of this match is what prompted me to make this list. Randy Orton won the WWE Championship last night at Hell in a Cell and he could hold it until Wrestlemania. Who will be cleared by late March? That’s right: Edge (hopefully). WWE is hopeful that Edge can make a full recovery before Mania and this would be the perfect matchup. Both Edge and Orton have a win over each other, making this potential matchup the rubber match. The thought of Edge potentially winning one last WWE title at Wrestlemania in 2021 is something that certainly would not have crossed my mind a year ago. Now of course there’s the possibility that Edge does not get cleared, in which I believe it’s possible we see Lesnar take on Orton or Drew has a rematch. I have more to share about the finish to this match later in this article.
Universal Championship Match: Roman Reigns (c) vs Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson
Roman Reigns’ title run so far has been fantastic and I cannot wait to see what he does next. We have the Goldberg match that should’ve happened at Wrestlemania 36 which could take place at Survivor Series or Royal Rumble, but no clear opponents after that. Except one: The Rock. This current storyline with Roman being the leader of the family would have the perfect culmination at Wrestlemania against his cousin Dwayne Johnson to settle who’s the real “Tribal Chief”. I believe this has been the plan for a while since Mania was supposed to be at So-Fi Stadium in Inglewood, California. However, with both Reigns and Johnson having strong ties to Florida (Roman born in Pensacola, Johnson attending the University of Miami), it would work well if they use Raymond James Stadium in Tampa for Mania 37. I would assume this could be The Rock’s final match, so he would be able to go out while putting over his cousin. Wow, I want this match.
Raw Women’s Championship: Asuka (c) vs Ronda Rousey or Shayna Baszler
I want to start by saying I would much rather see Asuka face Rousey. They didn’t have a chance to clash before Rousey left last April and they could put on a solid match. However, with Rousey being a wildcard, Shayna Baszler is the more likely opponent as of now. I feel like I shouldn’t even have to explain myself with this prediction. The two longest-reigning NXT Women Champions of all time going head to head at Wrestlemania. This match could be an absolutely insane workhouse match, something not seen a ton on the main roster women’s divisions. I think Baszler could give Asuka a better match, but Rousey will give her the bigger match. Either way, I don’t think Asuka retains the belt and the new champion will face a returning Becky Lynch.
Smackdown Women’s Championship: Sasha Banks (c) vs Bianca Belair
We got Sasha and Bayley on the main roster and it was amazing. Now it’s time for a new up-and-comer to have a chance at the belt after the Horsewomen have had it on lockdown since March 2019. Bianca Belair is a fantastic talent and can easily be a superstar. I believe she will win the 2021 Royal Rumble and challenge Sasha Banks. The match would not only be great, but the build would be filled with top-tier promos, with Belair and Banks being some of the best talkers in WWE currently. It seems like WWE wants to strap the rocket on Belair and a win over Banks at Wrestlemania would be amazing.
U.S. Championship: AJ Styles(c) vs Matt Riddle
I could be completely wrong here but I don’t think Lashley will hold the U.S. until Mania. Lashley has a match on my card but he shouldn’t have the title for it. Meanwhile, AJ Styles has to find a way onto the card somehow and what better than a triple threat against two new-ish superstars. I believe Styles will take the title off Lashley and continue his feud with Riddle that didn’t really end on Smackdown. We saw a glimpse of the match they could have on Smackdown a few months ago but this would be on the biggest stage possible. I believe this could potentially be a match of the year if given the time. This will be Riddle’s first WWE title and AJ will put him over in spectacular fashion.
Intercontinental Title Six-Man Ladder Match: Sami Zayn(c) vs Daniel Bryan vs Big E vs Seth Rollins vs Kevin Owens vs Aleister Black
I’ll be perfectly honest here. I chose names that I think would be great in a ladder match and deserve a Mania match. Sami Zayn is the current champion so he’s easy to put in the match, Daniel Bryan will most likely stay in the IC picture until he leaves, and Big E deserves a singles match at Mania. Rollins, Owens, and Black are other guys that should have matches at Mania so I stuck them here. These are all vets and will put on a solid ladder match. I have Big E winning this match, taking his first singles gold since 2013.
Tag Team Unification Match: New Day(c) vs Street Profits(c) vs Miz/Morrison vs The Usos
It’s time to unify the tag belts and share one division over both brands. There simply aren’t enough tag teams to justify two divisions. I don’t think either tag team will drop their belts before Wrestlemania, putting them in the match. I also decided to add two teams from each brand, with Miz/Morrison representing Raw and the Usos representing Smackdown. Jimmy Uso should be back by around Royal Rumble so he will likely be ready in time. I’m going with the Usos to win this match and we will finally see a Samoan dynasty faction with Roman, the Usos, and possibly Nia Jax.
Women’s Tag Team Championship Match: No match
There are already not many women’s tag teams in WWE so I think they will leave this championship off the card.
Non-Championship Matches
Brock Lesnar vs Bobby Lashley
Please please please give us the match Vince. This has been the dream match since Lashley returned in 2018 and if Brock Lesnar resigns, this should be the match at Wrestlemania for each man. Money. Match.
The Fiend vs Karrion Kross
This is possibly the most unrealistic match I could come up with for Wrestlemania, but I genuinely don’t care. If Kross is ready to go by Wrestlemania, these two should clash. The build would be phenomenal, the creepy characters would bounce off each other, and this could also work in a cinematic match if there aren’t crowds by Mania. It’s very possible that this would be the most boring match on the card in terms of pure in-ring work, but I think these two could tell a phenomenal story. I have Kross going over here, which would immediately put him in the title picture.
Bold Predictions
The Miz cashes in the Money in the Bank on Edge
Having Miz cash in his briefcase after Edge wins his first title in over a decade would give him nuclear heat. I also don’t love the idea of Edge having a long title reign so I think this is a good option to give him one more championship but put someone over. Now I know, The Miz doesn’t need to be put over. However, imagine how big the pop will be if someone like Drew McIntyre takes the belt off of The Miz. Edge won’t be directly putting someone over, but the guy who beats Miz will be red hot after winning.
There will be no battle royals
This is more of a logistics thing than anything. I don’t think it’s safe to hold a battle royal with as many people as they usually have during Covid-19. The battle royals were also not on the show last year so I think Vince has realized how little they do. I also believe they cost him more money since he has to give each talent a Mania payday.
No NXT Championship will be defended
Last year, we saw the NXT Women’s Championship defended by Rhea Ripley on night two of Wrestlemania 36. This tradition will not continue. Vince has made it clear with not having NXT as part of Survivor Series that he does not see them in the same way as Raw and Smackdown. NXT will keep its Takeover and that’ll be it.
There are some notable stars I left out of the show, such as Braun Strowman, Charlotte Flair, Drew McIntyre, Jeff Hardy, Ricochet, Sheamus, Bayley, Rey/Dom Mysterio, Baron Corbin, Shinsuke Nakamura, and all of Retribution. I’m sure that WWE will find a spot for these people somewhere on the card, but I couldn’t find a matchup that makes sense.
Well, there it is folks. My Wrestlemania 37 card predictions. Be free to let me know how you feel about the matches I chose and what matches you would want to see!
